things to do once the rain starts

with the rain settling in on seattle for the winter, i’m caught between the miserable feeling knowing that the sun will be gone for the next 8 months and staying positive with the thought of snow + skiing just around the corner.

today was the perfect day to browse through the SAM, which i hadn’t done in years.  the new expansion opened a few months ago so it was great to browse through the new spaces as well as all the new exhibits.  they have a great collection of modern art and i really enjoyed discussing the possible meaning of a few totally random pieces.  there were a few quilts to give inspiration, especially one from gee’s bend (i stumbled upon their collections a few years ago when i was looking for modern quilt inspiration).  the ladies from gee’s bend are truly unique and inspiring!

my quilt collection has been at the top of my list lately.  i need to get the designs into cad/photoshop and the fabrics finalized so i can sweet talk my mom into making a few for me to photograph.  and the name is still up in the air…  ugh!

heather and i have been talking about designing a website for tourism in burwell… so that would be a nice contract opportunity for us both!  and i have so much volunteer stuff to get done in the next few months with asid & legislation preparation for idcw, that i’m sure filling the time inside won’t be a problem.
